In this case it’s Daniel Cassidy, the man who becomes DC Comics cult favorite Blue Devil, who will be played by Ian Ziering. Here’s the character description (via Deadline) which seems to outline the approach they’re taking with Blue Devil… Blue Devil was created by Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn, and first appeared in an issue of The Fury of Firestorm in 1984, but soon launched in his own solo series. That book was a funny, irreverent look at superheroics, one that was quite different from anything else DC was publishing at the time. The origin story saw Cassidy, filming a movie in a Blue Devil costume, mistaken for a demon by an actual demon, who ends up bonding Cassidy to the suit. It’s far more fun and clever than it sounds, and you can usually pick up stacks of Blue Devil comics in dollar bins at comic cons. I recomment it. Anyway…later on, he ends up becoming an actual demon himself after making a deal with one. It’s likely that Swamp Thing will take the latter approach. The Swamp Thing cast already includes Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue/The Floronic Man, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Andy Bean as Alec Holland (with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing).
